'Sex and the City': Kim Cattrall is NOT like Samantha. Much.
The Dish Rag snagged some face time with "Sex and the City: The Movie" original cougar, Samantha (Kim Cattrall) on the London premiere red carpet.
DR: Is it a little weird being in London?
KC: Not for me. I love it. When I found out we weren't going to be in New York I was sad, but when I found out we were going to be in London, I was ecstatic first off.
DR: How do you explain the popularity of the series and this movie overseas?
KC: Well, I think it's been a long time coming — this show, for women, to laugh, and for men. It's great to laugh at yourself, you know. I don't think we do enough of it and that's what these women do. They support each other but they also boot each other in the butt occasionally.
DR: Are you amazed at how internationally popular the show is?
KC: It's extraordinary. We haven't been on air [in first run] for four years, and our fan base, instead of shrinking, it's grown overseas, so I'm thrilled, just thrilled.
DR: How similar are you to Samantha?
KC: Well, she's much more fearless than I am. I like to have fun but not Samantha kind of fun. She's a little dangerous for me, but I love the challenge of playing her, especially as I get older.
DR Aside: Yeah, and Kim just happens to date much younger men, just like Samantha!
DR: What if they asked you in 10 years' time to do another SATC film — would you be up for it?
KC: Just tell me where to show up!
