A Chanel-clad Madonna let her husband, once-promising young film director Guy Ritchie (left photo), out of the house to walk the carpet for the Cannes Film Festival premiere of her Malawi AIDS orphans documentary, "I Am Because We Are."
After abysmal reviews for his "Swept Away," starring Madge, poor Guy finally has a new film coming out in October, "RocknRolla," yet another London-set mobster tale. Talk about beating a dead horse. But this one packs some star power: Gerard ("300") Butler, Jeremy ("Entourage") Piven, Thandie ("Crash") Newton and Tom ("Michael Clayton") Wilkinson. So maybe there's hope.
A far scarier carpet couple is Madonna and fellow man-eating bleached-blond diva/philanthropist Sharon Stone (right photo), who will probably be personally ripping open people's checkbooks at Thursday's AmFAR Cinema Against AIDS fundraiser.
We would not be at all surprised if these two babes put on quite a show Thursday night. Madonna will perform. Perhaps a duet with Sharon? Maybe a Britney Spears-esque kiss?

I'd say Sharon looks way happier than Guy. It looks like he's thinking, "It wasn't supposed to be like this. I'm the darn rising star director! She's a "singer".. um, performer actually... come to think she's just a good dancer! Now her film premieres at Cannes? And I'm her lapdog date? This can't be happening...."

Sorry, Michael -- but Elizabeth hits the nail on the head, especially when it comes to Madonna -- the most overrated performer of our age. It has nothing to do with agesim (both women, even if it's with help from a plastic surgeon's scalpel, look wonderful).
However, both woman are obnoxious (although Stone, at least, can really act).
Deal with it.

How many films has Sharon Stone appeared in since BASIC INSTINCT? How many of those movies made money? Does she still command a $5-15 million salary per pic? Stone was fine in BASIC INSTINCT, TOTAL RECALL, CASINO and THE MUSE but her film resume pales in comparison to actresses like Meryl Streep, MIchelle Pfeiffer and Julia Roberts. I like Stone at her best (don't care about her Diva rep) and wish she would be more judicious about the scripts she selects and the directors she chooses to work with.

Ugh, Sharon Stone doesn't look as good as she used to. She was frighteningly ageless for a while.
