Miley Cyrus is really sorry about semi-topless Vanity Fair pix
In an unprecedented move, Miley Cyrus is apologizing to her fans for semi-topless photos (with a blanket wrapped around her chest) that aren't even out yet.
The Vanity Fair photos -- snapped by Annie Leibovitz -- of the 15-year-old will hit the stands later this week. They accompany an interview with her and her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus.
But Miley is already doing her mea culpas.
"I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be 'artistic' and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed," her statement reads. "I never intended for any of this to happen and I apologize to my fans who I care so deeply about."
Apparently the photos have been leaked online, causing FoxNews to call for a "conference." Vanity Fair editors told Entertainment Tonight that Miley's parents and/or minders were on the set during the shoot and that everyone thought the shots were fine.
I dunno. Candid internet photos of Miley pulling down her T-shirt to show off a green lace bra last week. Semi-topless professional photos on the web this week, soon to appear in Vanity Fair.
Somebody needs to pull in the reins of this talented little gal, before her career stampedes off into the sunset.
We really don't need another Lindsay or Britney, thanks much.

"Ok honey, take your top off. It's artistic."
Great! The Cyrus family says, because Annie Liebovitz gives puppy eyes.
Annie Liebovitz is in my mind a pedophile. And Vanity Fair and the Cyrus family has enabled it.
Disney Channel needs to take action or they're all going to follow the lead.
An apology just won't cut it.

Oh, come on, this is nothing. Literally. This is less than a 15-year-old would expose at any beach or swimming pool in America.

This is so sad--and facilitated by her own father? I am extremely disappointed and I suspect many others are as well...both youngsters and parents alike.

Excuse me? This is a 15 yr. old minor. Just because she is Miley Cyrus and the photographer is Annie Liebovitz, this is acceptable? And, this is supposedly "artistic"? Something is literally wrong with this picture.

Wow, I thought her father was really managing her career well and keeping her squeaky clean. That she would do a photo shoot like this is bizarre.

Another Disney girl gone "whore". And this time her supposed Christian parents were there applauding it all. Billy Ray and his wife are just as big of losers as Lynne Spears. And Miley Cyrus has shown herself to be nothing more than the same old slutty trash that Disney turns young women into. The whole Cyrus family is a disgrace. Could you at least just stop calling yourself Christians and dragging Him through the mud with you?!?!

Pervs love it when teen starlets do this kind of stuff, it prompts other teens to do the same. The Madonna-Britney kiss launched a generation of fake and real lesbian outbursts with its lot of voyeurs all too eager to cheer them on.
Personally, the more scandalous the better if it can teach today's parents that television is not a replacement for responsible parenting. I was brought up by a television set and blew my education trying to be cool like The Fonz.

She thought the shots were 'artistic'. LOL! Here's the thing: if you don't want to be seen topless, don't take your top off in the first place. Who's looking after this kid?

Anyone who thinks this is a big deal is an imbecile!

C'mon, folks - she's Hollywood! This is what they do.
Hollywood celebs are NOT people to idolize.
Posted by: Tony | April 28, 2008 at 04:58 AM
Sorry Rich, but you're take on this is all wrong. It isn't about the square inches of skin shown, it is about innocence turning provacative. The fact that "sex sells" is not a new revelation, but it is just difficult to watch as something wholesome begins to crumble.

Come on people, this is not the end of the world. When are we gonna start getting more outraged about rising food and fuel prices and more concerned about the war than we are about some "pop tart?" SHEESH!

What are you all up in arms about? It's only a matter of time before she hits the drugs and booze and starts flashin' her cooter all over the place.
Why fight the inevitable Hollywood stereotype . . . oh, I'm sorry, unless you were planning on getting America to boycott trash news like this?

WOW!... What a bunch of idiots! There was nothing wrong with Miley modeling. I would like to see FOX display that photo along side of another photo of Miley in a bathing suit and see which one is more reveiling. I'll bet that the bathing suit one is!
My daughter is a model and is the same age and my wife and I watch her closely. I am sure that Miley's dad has everything under control.

A little disappointing since my 7 yr old is such a big fan, but a good lesson to learn that everyone makes mistakes.
Its not that serious, "Live And Learn" Girl We Still Love YA!!!

Don't let Bring you down!!, Learn from this mistake and keep singing your lil heart out!!!!

I think, Tony, that it actually is about "square inches of skin" for most people (the ones complaining, anyway). Note that the headline on most of the reportage includes the word "topless." If she had the sheet completely covering her (like a cloak, for example) would there have been this kind of outrage?
In terms of it being "provocative" (and you clearly mean in a sexual way)--I just don't see it. She's a kid. Everyone knows she's a kid. Given Annie Liebovitz's other work, this is so clearly -not- about sexualizing Ms. Cyrus. If anything, the image highlights her innocence and vulnerability.

Miley Cyrus: Displaying Naughtiness? Or Synergy at Work?CONGRATS TO MILEY CYRUS AND HER DADDY, BILLY RAY, WHO HAVE succeeded in turning a wholesome TV princess into a poor little rich girl. And doesn't that always make for 'more sellable' story? Because now they have to manufacture dirt to make the just-sold million dollar biography of a privileged 15-year-old more appealing. Oh, and let's point out, the book's release date is timed to Miley's scheduled 2009 tour! Marketing synergy at work, America! CrabbyGolightly dot com. Taking a dim view of celebrity, media and power.

Nothing more was shown than would be shown in the kind of open back dress that Miley has worn at concerts. She looks innocent and beautiful and that's what she is. Nothing scandalous here, find something else to entertain yourselves now that the economy is sagging and you can't buy as much crap from china to make yourself feel better.

Vanessa Hudgens photos was at PORNOGRAPHIC level.....
Sorry, just sayin

To the guy that mentioned "this is less than any 15 year old would expose at a beach" ... This crap is what makes it so wrong.. the society is taking the innocence from our kids and pushing them into adulthood because folks like you think that is and should be the norm. NO WAY! That is why you do see the 15yr olds showing it all off because they think that is the only way to make it in this world, not by actual talent, or inner beauty or dignity.... but by doing what all the celebs and media teaches them and other idiots stand by and nod in approval... I think a little light buld should have gone off in her head somewhere when she heard "take your top off"- But it didn't... geez I wonder why?

she is nothing but a slut i bet she is sorry more like she just want's jessemccartney and everybody knows that she is nothing but a little skanky bitch
Posted by: kim | April 28, 2008 at 11:51 AM
Rich--Yes provocative in a sexual way! My daughters wore pajamas at age 15. To me, this picture screams "sitting up in bed, naked, with hair a bit mussed after having had sex." Ask the average 15 yr old guy if he thinks this pic is suggestive in a sexual way--Hell yes!
Posted by: DW | April 28, 2008 at 03:20 PM
I bet if she go full nude she'd get alot more viewers. And sorry ppl, but that is the way celebs get big, definitly more so when young. No matter what anyone says or does, ppl will do what they want. Let it go, get on with whats important. Celebs piss me off because of shit like this. Did you all forget--WE ARE AT WAR!!!
Posted by: Soldier | April 29, 2008 at 09:20 AM
If they said it was supposed to be artsy then it is. Miley had no intention im sure to make a picture of her after having 'rough sex' or any shit like that.
its the public that make it seem that way. sure its a bit much for the very young children with todays standards but thats art. period. kids need to grow up n realize that not all half naked pictures are porn, cuz this isnt.

Posted by: andrea | April 30, 2008 at 02:57 PM
I feel Mileys hurt but, just cuz she felt the pics were artistic does not mean Miley did'nt know what she was getting her self into!!!!!!!!
That artistic BULL is no excuse for what she did. She just liked to pose nude to tern NICK,JOE,& KEVEN on!
Miley now is a huge SLUT in my book
Posted by: Bubbly Vivian | April 30, 2008 at 03:37 PM
The photo IS NOT pornographic! "That Woman" is a photographer. I'm sure she is not the one who took off Miley's shirt, so how could anyone put her a fault? People think too damn much. And what you all need to remember is -- Its Miley's life, not yours!
Posted by: Soldier | May 01, 2008 at 09:06 AM
i think every1 should but out of mileys life i mean its her decision not ours so leave her alone & honestly you wonder y all the teens are going like this maybe if the press left them alone theyd b fine so piss off & leave her alone
