Plump up the sofa: Tom Cruise is prepping for an Oprah couch encore
Tom Cruise, who hasn't appeared on Oprah Winfrey's show since that June 23, 2005, couch-hopping interview, is going back on.
So what's the hook? Because there's always something to promote, whenever any star does a TV talk-show appearance.
Cruise's episode will air during the May sweeps, just in time for a 25th anniversary of "Risky Business" celebration, which will probably include a re-release of a special edition DVD.
We may even be treated to appearances from other cast members, like Rebecca De Mornay, shown (at right) at a 1983 "Risky" screening with Cruise, then her pre-thetan hunky boyfriend.
Bet Rebecca's got some real good stories. Hey, put her on the couch, Oprah.
Brace yourselves for lots of giggling over Tom's infamous slide-across-the-floor-in-tightie-whitey-briefs clip, which will surely be recycled during the show. I would not be surprised if they ask him to reprise that scene, but let's not dwell on that thought.
If Tom does hit Oprah's couch for an encore performance, this appearance has the potential to be even more embarrassing than Cruise's original sofa trampoline act when he went gaga over new love Katie Holmes.
Will Oprah ask Cruise the tough questions, like about his past relationship with De Mornay and whether the rumors about Katie going on Broadway and their separation are true?
'Cause I bet a lot more people would watch the show if she did.
Photos: Above, Katie and Tom back in February leave Wolfgang Puck's Cut, Tom's favorite flesh-peddling restaurant in Beverly Hills. Wonder if they make the incredibly shrinking Katie a veggie plate?

I'm just excited to see him on Oprah again. I can honestly say that his last apperance was one of the most exciting shows on Oprah. I can't wait to see it next Friday. Now I have a reason to postpone Iron Man till the Evening. Cause I'll be watching Oprah at 3pm.

The show will be watched. Tom Cruise is a big star. You use the word "embarassing" a lot. "Embarassing" to whom? Certainly not to Tom Cruise. Everybody has something to say about Tom Cruise. Tom Cruise is in demand. I don't think he's embarassed about that.

RISKY BUSINESS? The one about a little home prostitution business? Makes one wonder just what sort of tie-ins the show will feature–perhaps Oprah can get a few "professionals" to share pointers on how the average housewife can supplement her income? (But don't blame us if something goes wrong–we did say it was a risky business!)
Personally, I don't mind waiting another 25 years for this film's Golden 50th Anniversary, if ever. Sadly, even Oprah's legendary and fearsome show biz savvy will be put to the test in getting Cruise to top his previous "performance"–so perhaps his dropping trou on national TV is a distinct possibility after all. Can you just picture it-shaking and shimmying about the stage in nothing more than a pair of tighty whiteys, all the while declaiming his love for the lovely Stepford Wife Katie!

So I wonder how long before Oprah joins the order of the space cadets. I'm sure if she does she'll declare herself a god and the living incarnation of L. Ron.

Risky Business??
You think Tom Cruise who has basically been in media seclusion since his $cientology video debacle, gives a crapola about that??
No way.
Tom Is in full fledged damage control.
No one believes a word that comes out of his cult controlled mouth any more.
And he knows it.
He is a poster boy for $cientology and is losing credibility fast.
I couldn't care less about this Oprah show.
It will be pure PR spin.
