Lindsay's new family: Meet the 'Manson Girls'

Lindsay Lohan definitely has a dark side, as confirmed by recent reports that she has been cast in a film about the young women who followed murderous Charles Manson.

But this isn't the first time Lohan has shown a proclivity for the dark side.

First, there were those playful knife-to-the-throat photos made public in June 2007.

Next, she played twin strippers (one of whom gets brutally murdered) in "I Know Who Killed Me," which won her a record-breaking three Razzies. (Her turn in "Killed Me" scored Lohan her first Razzies, but -- and I think I'm on safe ground here -- probably not her last.)

She recently posed like Marilyn Monroe (her childhood idol) in a somewhat disturbing New York magazine spread mimicking the late actress' last photo shoot before her suspicious death, ruled an overdose. Lohan was even shot by the same photographer, Bert Stern.

And in her newest film, "Chapter 27," she plays a girl named Jude who befriends Mark David Chapman (played by a bloated and unrecognizable Jared Leto), John Lennon's killer.

Now word has leaked out that she will star in a new film about the Manson family. She'll play one of "Charlie's girls," held responsible for the ritualistic murders of several people, including Roman Polanski's then-wife, Sharon Tate, in the late 1960s and early '70s.

Her character, Nancy Pittman, never took part in the murders of Tate and four others, but she was later charged with being an accessory and served 18 months.

Gosh, all these creepy films are a far cry from LiLo's earlier work: "The Parent Trap," the naive out-of-towner in "Mean Girls" and "Freaky Friday!" Even her out-there (though now-devout Christian) dad doesn't approve.

Wonder who will co-star with LiLo? No word on who will play Manson (they gotta get Jeremy Davies of "Lost!" for this role) or his other helpers Susan Atkins and Patricia Krenwinkel.

I bet Juliette Lewis is already ringing up the film's producer to snag one of these plum roles.

Photos: When will Lohan start dating a nice, normal guy? Her choice of men is as dark as her film roles! WireImage

Lindsay has really been through a lot with her father, but had a great come back with that pictorial in New York mag. I read this article at http://www.projectweightloss.com about her eating disorders and how messed up her health was. Interesting.

Why does Hollywood, Make such movies about trash like this. no descet person wonts to see crap like this. I would much rather see a movie about Sharon Tate.

A movie about sharon tate. BORING!! You might as well want to watch a bio pic of Liz Berkeley or Lohan. Tate could not act to save her life
