Has Marion Cotillard destroyed her Hollywood careeer? Or cinched it?

Marion Cotillard has totally gone Hollywood.

A year-old interview with the Oscar-winning actress  has surfaced in which she states her conspiracy theories about the destruction of the Twin Towers.  Click here to read and hear the interview.

Some critics are sniping that she's ruined her Hollywood film career. Hah. Sounds to me as if she's cinched it. And that's what I just told a reporter from Agence France-Presse who called for my reaction to the scandale!

First off, this country was founded on the right to free speech. And Hollywood is a big supporter of free speech.  We gave Michael Moore an Oscar, for crying out loud!   

Plus Hollywood loves a good conspiracy theory. Look at Oliver Stone's controversial conspiracy films "JFK" and "Nixon," before he drank the Kool-aid and made "World Trade Center."  Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman starred in  one of the greatest conspiracy films ever made, "All the Presidents' Men."

OK, Mel Gibson is a conspiracy theorist who has made enemies and hurt his film career. But even Rosie O'Donnell has spoken about her lingering questions over the 9/11 attacks, what we knew and when we knew it. And we still love that big old outspoken broad!

Marion will fit in just fine in Hollywood. After all, this isn't Kansas.

In last years the european market is more attractive than american. Many of the best actors and actresses right now are outside Hollywood.

somehow, when you really compare her with other celebrities who voice out their political opinions, hers seemed mild. for me i respect her and her opinion. she's just getting all this buzz either because 1- she's french and 2- people love to see other fall down from grace. i love marion. and i don't care if she doesn't get big in hollywood after this brouhaha. true talent transcends borders, and hers has just reached so many countries and followers other than u.s.a.

The smear campaign against Marion Cotillard really only lasted about 10 days, if that. So many fans and fair-minded folk posted supportive statements in response to all the rightwing nonsense that the controversy just died. But some are still wondering: Since the French TV interview had been around for over a year before it was dragged back out and poorly interpreted, who dragged it out and why?
I think it was due to the fact that Cotillard's name was not well-known here. Once she won an Oscar, and charmed all of Hollywood and much of the US in the process, she became a viable political target. Shame on those who tried to damage this fine young woman.
