Sam Riley can't lose in "Control"
If you were a fan of the '70s British punk band called Joy Division - or even if you weren't - you'll appreciate the phenomenal performance given by newcomer Sam Riley in "Control," the new Oscar buzzed-about film about Division's lead singer, Ian Curtis.
His portrayal of Curtis, infamous for his seizure-like stage movements, is eerily spot on. The film is based on a book by his widow and offers insight into what made Curtis commit suicide right before the band's first US tour. Did I mention the film and Riley got raves at Cannes?
Listen to what Riley, one of Variety's Ten to Watch, said about Curtis at the Hollywood Awards.
