Paul Coates was exactly right about the end of Beatnikism. Harry Karl went bankrupt (you can look it up) and the Japanese had to try to sell dinky little cars over here and you know how that turned out. The coffee houses died and in their place there is the Starbuckian Movement which is not the same and although I love gourmet coffee I stay away from them like they have the heebie-jeebies. And, they try to sell you CDs of music by folks who were hot in the Stone Age -- Geriatric Rock. Not cool, dude, not cool at all.
