Movieland Mystery Photo -- Updated

Here’s this week’s mystery fellow with a (not) mysterious companion.

Update: I've been completely occupied with an upcoming story about the 1910 Times bombing so I haven't had a chance to post the names of everyone who has recognized our mystery guest so far. There's a lot of folks:

Dewey Webb, Carmen, Pat in Michigan, Mike Hawks, Periwinkle, Margie, Lee Ann Thom and Megan, Steve Stoliar, Herb Nichols, Julie Merholz, Barbara Klein, Lana, James Curtis, Gregory Moore, Cold in PHX, Michael Ryerson, Zabadu, Mary Mallory, Fibber McGee, Rotter, William, Grammy Flo, Eve, Anne Papineau, Richard Wegenscheide, Waldo Lydecker (where you been?), Dr. Fudd, Space Hanlon, Jenny M, Candy C, RJ, Dan Bazarian, Mark Heimback-Nielsen, Pamela Porter, Don Young, Rosalyn, Sue, Claire Lockhart, Arye Michael Bender, Roget-L.A., LC, Rick, Randy Skretvedt, Sandy, Steven Moshlak, Cathy and Stacia.

Just a reminder on how this works: I post the mystery photo on Monday and reveal the answer on Friday ... or on Saturday if I have a hard time picking only five pictures; sometimes it's difficult to choose. To keep the mystery photo from getting lost in the other entries, I move it from Monday to Tuesday to Wednesday, etc., adding a photo every day.

I have to approve all comments, so if your guess is posted immediately, that means you're wrong. (And if a wrong guess has already been submitted by someone else, there's no point in submitting it again).

If you're right, you will have to wait until Friday or Saturday. There's no need to submit your guess five times. Once is enough. The only reward is bragging rights.

Last week’s mystery guest was Jean Negulesco!

There’s a new photo on the jump!

Here’s another photo of our mystery guest with a mystery companion. Aren’t her eyes haunting? Just about everyone identified our mystery fellow, far too many to list. Among the more amusing observations was Dewey Webb’s “it's gonna be Louise Beavers & Aline MacMahon all over again.”

Here’s our mystery guest with some very mysterious companions. I sometimes think The Times’ art department painted out and tilted photos just for something to do because, as in this case, it was entirely unnecessary.

For Friday, our mystery guest goes gunning for retouching fiends in The Times’ art department.

Spooky-eyed gal is Barbara Belden

Johnny Lydon, Corinne Calvet

Semi-obliterated mystery delinquent is Dickie Moore (in Bad Boy)

The mystery fellow is Jimmy Lydon, still alive and active today, and a delightful gentleman. I think the still with the very mysterious companions may be from the 1949 juvenile delinquent drama "Bad Boy," a real change from Jimmy's early '40s films as clean-cut Henry Aldrich!

Tuesdays photo appears to be from WHEN THE LIGHTS GO ON AGAIN, w/Lydon and Barbara Belden. Wednesdays photo should be from BAD BOY w/Jimmy and at far right Tommy Cook.

Jimmy Lydon

Round 2- Henry!!!! Henry Aldrich!!!!

Mr. Jimmy Lydon

Jimmy Lydon

Jimmy Lydon, I guess. But who's the lady in the 2nd photo with him? She's terrific!

Tommy Cook is on the far right in Wednesday's photo with Dickie Moore 2nd from the right. That means it's either Stanley Clements or Audie Murphy that's behind all that grey paint.

Your list of correct guessers looks like the Usual Suspects.

Funny. I'm the one regular reader of this blog that didn't identify Elizabeth Taylor. For the life of me, I was sure that was a young Ida Lupino.
