Update: Yes, this is George Raft and Bugsy Siegel from a 1944 hearing on bookmaking charges.

OK, this may not be much of a mystery, but it’s too cool not to post. Finding a gem like this made my day.

George Raft & Bugsy Siegel

George Raft and Bugsy Siegel.

Ge4orge Raft and it's kinda hard to tell with the squint on his face, but to sure looks like Bugsy Siegel.

George Raft and friend.

George Raft and Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegel. This was probably taken before Siegel's eyeball was shot out of his skull.

George RAft and Bugsy Siegel

Mr. George Raft with his old, New York street buddy, Benjamin (Bugsy) Seigel.

George Raft and I believe, Joseph L. Mankiewicz.

George Raft on the left?

Ben and George at Ben's 1944 bookmaking trial, where Raft testified for the defense.

Benjamin Seigel (before the shoot-out in his house on Linden Ave.) & George Raft.

Some years later, one would be wearing a rug while greeting folks at a Vegas casino. And the other would be eyeless in the Big Flamingo in the sky.

Legend has it that Bugsy Siegel went so far as to make a screen test. Has anyone seen it?
