A Kinder, Simpler Time Dept.: Your Movie Columnist
| |
| Jan. 8, 1946: “Fritz Lang's sure cut himself a career with those realistic mysteries. After 'Cloak and Dagger,' he'll do 'Mystery in Mauve,' an original by Frank Bigelow for Diana Productions. It'll get the same cast he had before -- Eddie Robinson, Joan Bennett and Dan Duryea.” Any ideas on what became of “Mystery in Mauve?” Was it shot as “Secret Beyond the Door?” |

Doesn't look like Mystery in Mauve was ever made. Wouldn't be the first time a 'project' made the columns only to disappear forever. Joan Bennett is the only one of the three players from The Woman in the Window who subsequently appeared in Secret Beyond the Door and poor Mr. Bigelow gets no credit on this film. In fact, Mr. Bigelow is something of a mystery himself having no writing credits of any kind on IMDB. The Woman in the Window was a neat little film, albeit with an unsatisfatory trick ending. But still an enjoyable hour and a half.
