Eventually “Touch” Conners became known as Mike Connors, star of “Tightrope” and “Mannix.” “Five Guns West” gets 2.9 stars on imdb, slightly less than “Robot Monster” but more than “Eegah.”

More than a whiff of McCarthyism can be smelled in the Hopper column. Statements about wanting to make and sell films boosting American values have the shadow of government pressure about them.

It may have been a simpler time, but it was not very kind.
