Lunch With Larry and Keith, Aug. 15
Larry Harnisch/Los Angeles Times I always assume Daily Mirror readers are familiar with Philippe. It's at 1001 N. Alameda, just north of Union Station. |
We had so much fun at our last Daily Mirror lunch at Philippe that Keith and I decided to do it again. We're shooting for noon on Aug. 15 in the mass transit alcove (that's the train room) at Philippe. Stop by and chat about your favorite mystery photo, Paul Coates, the Dodgers, the Angels and the Hollywood Stars. Update: Marion Eisenmann, who is doing the terrific drawings of Los Angeles landmarks, says she plans to join us. More info on our Facebook page. |

And you expect someone who is interested in El Lay in the 1950s (and who was there) to know what a Facebook page is, or to give a durn what it is, or how to access it?

Again I will ask that we have a designated area to sit or wear something distinctive or at the very least, clue the cashier as to the group's meeting place.
I went the last time, looked around, inquired of the cashier, waited around and left forlornly at about 12:05.
I am now sorry I missed the "fun time."

Larry and Keith, I'm ready for my closeup!
Thanks for the advanced notice. I have marked my calendar.
What movie is this? "Can you believe it? We're in the middle of a drought, and the water commissioner drowns. Only in L.A."

That would be "Chinatown." If Lee Rivas read your posting, it says the group will gather in the mass transit alcove.

I'm sorry I won't be able to join all of you. Maybe sometime soon I can make it out to LA again.

I do not like the new blog format. For one thing, there is no "Older Posts" link at the bottom of the page anymore. Very inconvenient...
