This is an example of the ghastly injuries that occurred when a streetcar hit a horse. The stories in the days before papers published photos of breaking news were graphic and left little to the imagination--if you are a horse-lover, you will be happier not reading this account. As I said, the carnage on the streets of early 20th century Los Angeles is not to be believed.

And while I'm at it, let me ask you this: Do you think people living 50 years ago looked back at 1908 as we do today in reconsidering 1958? I suspect they did.
