Thanks for posting this. I guess it's easy to find brush fire reportage from SoCal in the summer through recorded history. What I found fascinating is the report of the US' massive H-bomb test, right next to the US refusing a Soviet offer for a treaty.
(And I realize that's OT for "LA's Crime and Cops", but it's still interesting.)
--I have only touched on the atomic tests conducted in Nevada in the summer of 1957. In one test, the bomb didn't go off and a couple of men had to climb up the tower and disarm it. And yes, they survived.
