And the first Academy Award acting award goes to ... Chris Bosh

February 25, 2011 | 12:23 pm

In the NBA they call it flopping. In Hollywood, they call it acting. But it's really the same thing--being rewarded for pretending. The Miami Heat's Chris Bosh was guarding the Chicago Bulls' Carlos Boozer when Boozer was positioning himself to take a jump shot. When Boozer swung the ball past Bosh's face, Bosh acted--and oh boy do we mean acted--like he got busted in the chops and went down like a ton of bricks. As the replays show, maybe Boozer tapped the tip of Bosh's nose. More likely, Boozer got nothing but air. But Bosh took a marvelous fall, writhing on the ground like he'd been hit by one of Micky Ward's left hooks in "The Fighter." Boozer got called for the foul, which is almost as bad a call as the academy snubbing Ryan Gosling's acting performance in "Blue Valentine." Watch for yourself:
