Are Dustin Hoffman and Jason Bateman, ahem, kissing cousins?

June 4, 2010 | 12:37 pm

Dustin_hoffman I know that the Lakers gave a sound thrashing to my beloved Celtics in Game 1 of the NBA Finals, so I guess I can't be talking any trash about Pau Gasol being the softest 7-footer in the league or Ron Artest looking like he's ready to make a splash on the World Wrestling circuit after his NBA career is over.

The Lakers won and won convincingly, thoroughly dominating the Celtics, so all props to the home team who totally took possession of the game pretty much from start to finish.

But that doesn't mean I can't make fun of all the gushy Hollywood celebrities who showed up last night who aren't exactly serious basketball fans, but occupied all those great courtside seats even if -- and yeah, I'm talking about you, Jeffrey Katzenberg and Steven Spielberg -- they couldn't name two members of the Memphis Grizzlies or the Minnesota Timberwolves if their opening weekend grosses depended on it.

And when it comes to totally gushy behavior, how about Dustin Hoffman (who actually is a serious b-ball fan) and Jason Bateman, who when the Kiss-Cam came their way managed to get into the spirit of publicly displaying affection in a big way. The above photo shows them preparing to lock lips, though you'll have to go here to see the serious wet kiss in all of its big-screen splendor. If this smooch doesn't blow "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" out of the water, I don't know what will. All I can say is that Dustin and Jason are two helluva good Method actors! Let's see if they're still acting so frisky when the Celtics come back strong against the Lakers in Game 2.
