Most of his nearly three decades in the news business have been spent at the Los Angeles Times. Jim has covered the environment, politics and government, writing the first major analysis of the mini-mall and spending months exposing the failures of a school for emotionally disturbed teens. Jim reported from the campaign trail in 2004 and 2008 and came to admire the incredible resilience of the Iraqis while working in the Times' Baghdad bureau.
