HP's discontinued TouchPad selling for $99.99 -- in Canada

HP TouchPad for $100 or 150 at BestBuy in Canada

Hewlett-Packard killed off the HP TouchPad on Thursday, and all of its WebOS smartphones along with it, due to low sales.

But if there is anything that can catch a little consumer attention, it's a price cut. And the HP TouchPad is receiving what is possibly one of the most dramatic price cuts in all of tablet computer history -- down to $99.99 in Canada.

Well, not all of Canada, but the $100 TouchPad, with 16 gigabytes of memory and Wi-Fi only, is available in our neighbor to the north's Best Buy and Future Shop stores (Future Shop is a retail chain owned by Best Buy). The 32-gigabyte model of the TouchPad is selling in either store for $149.99.

However, Future Shop lists the TouchPads as being in stock and Best Buy Canada does not. Maybe the sale has been a hit?

Sadly, for U.S. fans of WebOS, Best Buy stores stateside aren't taking up the same cost-cutting tactic so far and instead still listing the 16-gigabyte TouchPad for $399.99 online and $499.99.

A shout-out goes out to PreCentral and This Is My Next for reporting on these deals earlier.
