Samsung reportedly agreed to halt sales of its Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet in Australia until a patent dispute with Apple Inc. is resolved with a settlement or court order.

Apple has argued in court filings that the Galaxy Tab 10.1 -- including its ‘look and feel’ and its touch-screen technology -- infringes on 10 Apple-owned patents, according to a Bloomberg News report.

Samsung agreed to suspend sales in Australia of its tablet, which runs on Google’s Android operating system and is slightly lighter than Apple’s iPad 2. But if Apple loses the lawsuit, it will pay the South Korean consumer electronics maker unspecified damages, Bloomberg said.

Steven Burley, an Apple lawyer, told an Australian Federal Court Justice Annabelle Bennett that the Cupertino tech giant also wants Samsung to halt sales of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in other countries, but Burley didn’t say which ones, the report said.

Apple sued Samsung in the U.S. in April, alleging that the Galaxy phone and tablet line were rip-offs of the iPhone and iPad. Samsung has filed countersuits in a number of countries.
