Sony suspends music website for Brazil after possible hacker breach

Sony temporarily shut down its Brazilian music website Tuesday as it looked into a possible server breach, according to reports.
The news comes as Sony continues to face attacks from hackers that extend as far back as April and have affected more than 90 million Sony user accounts.
On Monday, Sony websites in Europe were also believed to have been hacked into, according to Bloomberg, and Sony also acknowledged over the weekend that its Culver City Sony Pictures film studio had been broken into, with personal data leaked by the hacker group LulzSec.
The same group has said that it hacked into Nintendo, PBS and FBI-affiliated sites.
Sony officials were unavailable for comment on the reported attacks to its Brazilian music site, but company spokesman Tomio Takizawa told Bloomberg that the possible attack ‘may have altered some content,’ declining to go into further detail on what that could mean for the site.
In the past, LulzSec has claimed responsibility for fake news stories published to PBS’ site, as well as videos and taunts directed at the FBI on the website of the Atlanta chapter of InfraGard, a security group operated by the FBI and the private companies to prevent terrorist and criminal activities against the U.S.
On Monday, Sony apologized for its security difficulties and the toll hackers have taken on its online networks, before detailing its upcoming PlayStation Vita portable video game system, which will connect to the Internet over Wi-Fi and AT&T 3G connections.
