Verizon’s 4G LTE network is back in action, after being out of commission for a little more than 24 hours for most users.

The nation’s largest mobile carrier confirmed that its 4G service was up again in a message on Twitter posted about 8 a.m. on Thursday.

The tweet was a simple one, with little detail on just what the problem was or how widespread the outages were, reading ‘4G LTE up and running. Thank you for your patience.’

Verizon’s 4G service began failing at about 2 a.m. yesterday morning, according to commenters on the Technology blog. Some Verizon subscribers said on Verizon’s Facebook page that, during the outage, they were unable to place calls.

Company officials declined to say what the cause of the 4G downtime was.

Verizon emailed along a company statement that said ‘Our 4G LTE network is up and running. Our network engineers and vendors quickly identified the issue and solved it.’

Consumers who use the HTC ThunderBolt, the only 4G phone Verizon sells as of now, should be back to ‘normal service,’ the company said in the email.

Verizon also said in its statement that laptop users with USB modems ‘may need to re-connect to the network when moving between 3G and 4G. This will continue to improve.’
