Save money on gas with smart phone apps

Gasbuddy Drivers pummeled by high gas prices are turning to their smart phones to take some of the pressure off their wallets.

TrueCar.com has a list of 10 apps that help save money at the pump, including free offerings such as Gasbuddy and TripTik. which identify nearby gas stations and sort them by price. Carticipate helps organize ride-shares while Waze points out traffic-free routes.

Gizmodo has a similar list, with GasHog for iPhone and Mileage for Android to track fuel economy and TripAlyizer and greenMeter to calculate whether that dirt-cheap but remote station is really worth the trek.
