The online Apple Store went down Wednesday morning.

Apple simply said on its website that it was ‘busy updating the store for you and will be back shortly.’

At about 10 a.m., Apple is set to host a news conference where it is expected to unveil the iPad 2.

Usually, Apple only takes its store offline to add new products, as it did last week with its update to its MacBook Pro line of laptop computers.

Could it be that Apple is in the process of adding the iPad 2 to its online store? Could the next iPad go on sale Wednesday? When will it arrive in the Apple retail stores in malls and shopping centers?

Those questions, and others, might be answered Wednesday during the Apple event in San Francisco’s Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.

And L.A. Times technology reporter David Sarno will be live blogging the whole thing, on the Technology Blog.

To check out Sarno’s coverage, which will start at about 9:30 a.m., head over to the post:
