Gmail experiencing outages, missing messages; Google says it's working on fix

For a second day, Google is working Monday to resolve login problems and restore missing e-mail messages in its Gmail service to thousands of affected users.

The outages and deleted message problems began on Sunday, according to a Google's App Status Dashboard, a website that lists the status of the tech-giant's Web-based applications.

Google did not return requests for comment on Monday regarding the Gmail problems, but on Sunday night, on the App Status Dashboard, the company said the outages and missing messages affected less than 0.08% of the services' users.

"Google engineers are working to restore full access," the company said on the Gmail dashboard. "Affected users will be temporarily unable to sign in while we repair their accounts."

Earlier on Sunday, Google reported on the Gmail dashboard that about 0.29% of the Gmail users were affected by the outages.

Google hasn't offered specific numbers on how many users have lost messages or been unable to use Gmail, though the company has said its e-mail service has hundreds of millions worldwide, which would mean tens of thousands of users have been affected, according to the Associated Press.
