CES: Liquid Image video goggles for point-of-view shooting
If you're the type of person who is interested only in things you can use while putting your life in danger, the Consumer Electronics Show has stuff for you. Not just rocket-powered 3D TVs or bulletproof tablet PCs (though Las Vegas would be the place to find those). I'm talking about Liquid Image's Impact Series HD and Summit Series HD video goggles.
Both series of goggle (Impact for motocross and Summit for snow sports) have a 1,280-by-720 HD video, 5-megapixel still camera built into the frame of the goggles and centered just above the lenses -- kind of like an electronic third eye that lets you see the past instead of the future. The camera has a wide-angle lens that captures a 136-degree field of view, records to Micro SD/SDHC cards up to 32 gigabytes and has an estimated battery life of two hours.
So if you want to shoot true point-of-view video or don't want to worry about how the wind resistance from a camera on the side of your helmet will mess with your launch trajectory, this may be for you.
