Apple iPad 2 could ship as early as February, report says [Updated]
Chinese manufacturer Foxconn Electronics, which builds some Apple products, could start shipping Apple's iPad 2 as soon as February, according to a report published by the DigiTimes news website Tuesday.
The report cites unnamed sources at Foxconn who said Apple had planned to possibly start mass production of the next-generation iPad in January.
But those plans were postponed until about February, as the tablet's hardware and specifications have not been finalized by Apple, according to the report.
[Updated 9:37 a.m.: Apple spokeswoman Trudy Muller said the company "declines to comment on rumors."]
Apple has sold more than 7 million iPads so far this year.
