Twitter rolls out new Hovercard feature

Twitter has unveiled a new feature that will help users learn more about tweeters without leaving the page they’re on, the company announced in a blog post Wednesday night.

Dubbed Hovercards, the new Twitter feature displays profile information about a particular user whenever a person hovers their mouse over a user name. Each Hovercard displays the person’s name and location. It also gives users the option of following or direct messaging those people without leaving the page.

Hovercards is admittedly a small upgrade. The update will make it easier for users to learn more about others, but it won’t have a profound effect on how they interact with the popular social network.

Regardless, Twitter believes that it will add some value to the service, writing on its blog that Hovercards will ‘be a handy way to interact with the folks behind each tweet.’

Hovercards is being rolled out in stages. Some users have access to the new feature, but others will need to wait until it is rolled out across the social network.
