CES: LG Display shows off 480Hz screen

January 7, 2009 | 11:47 am

480hzLAS VEGAS --  If for Christmas you got a 240Hz LCD television -– which eliminates much of blur in fast-action sequences -- you might already be passe.

The LG Display company showed a 480Hz screen at the Consumer Electronics Show.

It looked extremely sharp on an action sequence from the movie “Transformers,” but it was impossible to tell –- without a side-by-side comparison -- just how much better it is than 240Hz. Maybe it will be imperceptible.

Just refrain from looking at a 480Hz TV if it makes it into the marketplace, and you’ll be fine.
