YouTube offers medley of Britney Spears "Womanizer" covers

3:57 PM, November 20, 2008

By now we know YouTube is the best and worst thing that's ever happened to the musical cover.  Every song you can think of has at least one cover version on YouTube, and the popular songs have pages of them -- some of which manage to be better than the original.  And some of which don't.  Just try looking for a few -- Black Dog, Barracuda, Mr. Bojangles, etc.  A cover has really reached its YouTube apotheosis when some enterprising editor takes the time to splice a bunch together -- a kind of collaborative meta-cover.  Ultimate Canon Rock is the most famous example.
