FOMALHAUT IS KNOWN SINCE ANCIENT TIMES, before becoming the subject of attention of exoplanet hunters in the early 1980s. At that time, the NASA satellite, IRAS (Infrared Astronomy Satellite) detects infrared signature of a large amount of dust that can be interpreted as due to the presence of a planetary system.Full story:
