Evening roundup: Amazon down for hours, Tickle down for good

It's almost iPhone Day! Tune in here Monday starting at 10 for our reports from the Steve Jobs keynote. We're all about 3G, baby! Till then, a few last links to get you to the weekend:
-- Valleywag takes a Google Maps tour of Henry Nicholas' stomping grounds.
-- Amazon.com goes dark! Online shoppers couldn't access the site for a couple of hours today. NYT
-- All social networking sites are not created equal. Monster.com is shuttering its online dating service, Tickle. Silicon Alley Insider
-- Two interesting reads about upstart journalists using the Web to make a difference: American Journalism Review profiles SmokingGun.com (yeah, the site that caught the LAT in a big screwup). And the LAT profiles Mayhill Fowler, who, as James Rainey describes it, "helped create two of the most unexpected moments in the 2008 election so far."
-- Bit Player reports reports from NYC on evidence of an online video bubble.

Susan, thanks for the comment. It sounds like we're talking about two different services. Monster is closing down Tickle.com, the social networking service it acquired in 2004, as of June 30, according to the Silicon Alley Insider item I linked to. I just checked out the site you mentioned and it seems to be unrelated to Tickle.com.
