Joseph Menn

Joseph Menn covers technology-related privacy and security issues, Microsoft and the L.A. tech scene.

He has handled virtually every tech beat -- and a few entertainment ones -- since joining the Times in 1999. Originally from New England, he wrote "All the Rave," that book about Napster you've been meaning to read. Before he had kids, he surfed more.

He will be on leave through the end of 20008 while he writes another book.
