Snow leopard jock straps & the paparazzi
It took less than 36 hours for the 2008 Sundance Film Festival to transform Park City's central artery, Main Street, into a Fellini-esque mob scene in both the literal and figurative sense.
How else to explain the snow leopard jock straps for sale here, the ambush marketers in slow-moving cars beaning passersby with ice scrapers bearing corporate logos, the grizzled Yosemite Sam types with hooded falcons perched on leather gloves and women in high-heeled mukluks having animated conversations on their iPhones?
It was in the legendary Italian director's "La Dolce Vita" that the world first met the character Papparazzo, a freewheeling celebrity photographer of few scruples. Here, packs of paparazzi can be spotted running down the street, nearly getting run over by shuttle buses, in pursuit of their quarry.
"Kim Kardashian, look this way!"
"Hey, isn't that guy with the fur coat Chamillionaire?"
"Hey Donovan Leitch and Kirsty Hume -- just one shot of you two together with Main Street in the background."
