Sir Ben has arrived
Ben Kingsley might not be the first actor whose name you'd associate with Sundance, but, looking like some sort of regal huntsman out of a fairy tale, he turned up in a great and imposing overcoat to support his two films at the festival, "The Wackness" and "Transsiberian."
Both are up for acquisition, and at a crowded party for the latter film -- a suspense thiller about an American couple (Woody Harrelson and Emily Mortimer) who must tangle with Kingsley's Russian detective while on a long train journey across China and into Moscow -- director Brad Anderson, in particular, seemed pleased with the reaction to the film. After all, he knows the Sundance drill, having been to the festival previously with such projects as "Next Stop Wonderland" and "The Machinist."
He was serenely taking it all in with his cast, including a radiant Mortimer, who looked lovely in her black cocktail dress. That's not to say he wasn't celebrating, though. There were plenty of bottles of Snow Queen vodka on hand to keep revelers warm (those without the spectacular floor length overcoats anyway).
