Scenemaster Brin says goodbye to all this
Subdued, low-key, no doubt extremely hung-over mood at the MySpace Cafe today. Across Main Street, the swag suites are shutting down. The nightclubs have concluded their local runs. I apparently missed the one flurry of excitement -- Charlize Theron's visit to the cafe. I am told she walked out nibbling at a handful of french fires "like a beautiful monkey."
Andrew Brin, heading home in a couple of hours, reports that the night before, at Hyde, "we finally had the party we were waiting for. Everybody was there, a packed house but not impossible to move. Dancing on tables, alcohol flowing, everybody making out. There is one of these parties every year, and we have been waiting for this one."
A couple of other final thoughts from Brin before he rides off into the sunset:
-- The strike did have a dampening effect on the scene. The feeling is definitely down.
-- No one emerged as the superhot star everyone wants to see.
And so the festival is returned to the filmmakers. The rest will certainly feel like silence.
