Scene: Feral cameramen await Colin Farrell at the Eccles
Manohla Dargis and Elvis Mitchell -- she small, he tall -- were holding court in the tiny corridor leading to the Sundance press office when we arrived. I would have stayed to chat (OK, eavesdrop), but we were running and gunning to make it to the "In Bruges" red carpet in time.
I played the role of stoic sentry/punching bag to two football teams' worth of broadcast cameramen wielding large tripods, poles, camera heads and lights as we all awaited the arrival of Colin Farrell. On one side was Gerrard from Reelz, on the other was a surly fellow from TV Guide Channel who threatened a few times to knock me in the head with his camera.
Minutes before the stars arrived, our Envelope red carpet goddess Elizabeth Snead (in hat, above) ran in, followed close behind by our cameraman Michael Toubassi (above). I took a quick snap and got the heck out of their to meet my chariot out in the snow. Inside, Richard, Jevon and Greg had the heat cranked and we sped off to check into the Yarrow Hotel.
Barring any unknown homicides on that press line, look for Elizabeth and Michael's "In Bruges" premiere coverage here shortly.
