Hunting for Paris Hilton!

Socialite_brian_15314960_600Having a wonderful time. Wish Paris was here!

So I was having a quick lunch of chili and apple salad at the MySpace Café at the Lift today (Saturday) when I overheard the café’s publicist say that Nicky Hilton had just IMed her that she and Paris were on their way over.

Wow. Was Paris going to come to me, instead of me having to hunt for her all day?

Turns out, no.

Even the civilian crowd that had gathered outside the Lift was vocally disappointed when only Nicky showed up, no Paris. Nicky quickly hit the Fred Segal suite  and tried not to make eye contact with Tom Arnold, who was doing a quick interview witha desperate journalist.

Kim Kardashian was also having lunch at the MySpace café when I was there but she left (before Nicky arrived) to indulge in some major looting at the swag suites up and down Main Street.

When I caught up with her, she was inside the Kari Feinstein Sundance Lounge and told me looking forward to going to some of the dozen parties being held tonight.

I saw Armand Assante and Esai Morales doing an interview in the Hollywood Life House’s upstairs Hennessy Lounge. Looking down from the lounge, I watched Sundance legend Harvey Weinstein making his way through the crowds up Main Street, looking a bit like a hungry shark in the middle of a school of tuna

Downstairs, Stanley Tucci and Patricia Clarkson were doing a tandem interview in the bar at the Hollywood Life House .

Actressti_jason_15314825_600Suddenly, "Michael Clayton" star Tilda Swinton walked into the Hollywood Life celebrity gifting lounge.

“Is this a film festival or a department store,” she asked, looking around the suite filled with Sephora makeup, skin care, purses, jeans and watches. “It must be a department store. They’re selling luggage over there.”

Swinton found the whole commercial aspect of the fest quite distressing. So we talked about "Derek," the documentary on her dear friend, legendary late independent film director Derek Jarman. “I hope the film exposes a new generation to his work.”

I wondered Paris or Mary Kate Olsen,  both at the Maroon 5 event Friday night at Tao, would get to see the doc. But they were both probably too busy.

Paris was reportedly on the list at the 50 cent private dinner at Harry O Saturday night. But despite being invited by two publicists, I wasn’t on the list. She might have been at the U2 party at Cicero’s. Woody Harrelson was. I couldn’t get in there either.

She could have hit the EW party, but didn’t. I ended up chatting with the few stars that did turn up, including cutie pie David  Annable from “Brothers and Sisters.”

Later,  I heard she had her own private dinner at Turning Leaf. Sheesh.  And when I finally left the late night Motorola party, Paris was still reportedly still 'on her way.'

Sorry, Paris, I just couldn’t wait for you.

Hope we can connect at your film party tomorrow night at the Bon Appetit Supper Club. If I'm on the list

Wake me when a cinematic experience occurs that actually involves celluloid rather than cheap, imitation plastic.

Please tell me why ANYBODY give mudpuppy's a$$ about Paris, et al?
