Go tell it on the mountain: Arriving

Appropriately for a flight to a festival, the JetBlue plane from Long Beach to Salt Lake City was downright festive for our 1.2 hours in the air.

Greg Ellwood reported that the couple he flew with (he in a trucker cap and she in black jeans and thigh-high boots) spent the flight telling each other how cute they were and seeking munchies.

The proliferation of iPhones plus in-seat video meant that many spent the flight surfing on two screens. I felt hostility from my neighbors as I watched downloaded episodes of "The Hills" on my iPhone.

Overheard in the airport from two scraggly Harry Knowles types: "He's like the Tom Brady of critcs."

At baggage claim, colleague Jevon Phillips and I debated whether a couple were in fact "The Hills'" Heidi and Spencer in the flesh. Finally Jevon asks. They are not. And they are fairly outraged at the question. It was not to be, but our Sundance dreams had taken flight.
