Fawning over Fanning, Part Deux
Last year, it was Dakota Fanning in a gut-wrenching tale that included a rape scene that many thought was too much for the gifted child ("Hounddog"). Meaning: too much for others to handle. This year, the younger Fanning, Elle, gets to grace the screen in "Phoebe in Wonderland."
The film, also starring Felicity Huffman and Patricia Clarkson, is one of the centerpieces of this year's fest. Catch a clip of it here.
In an interview with indieWIRE, "Phoebe" director Daniel Barnz talked a bit about his inspiration for the film.
I was definitely "The Weird Kid" growing up. But the irony of being tortured as a kid is that at a certain point in your life - if you're a storyteller - you become grateful for the pain you experienced because it feeds you creatively.
So. True. And now ... I'm on a Fanning search!
