USC is expected to have an elite class by the time national signing day 2012 is over, but the Trojans lost at least one player who had verbally committed when Washington announced that defensive lineman Pio Vatuvei had accepted a scholarship offer from the Huskies.

Vatuvei, 6-foot-3 and 272 pounds, attends Patterson High in Patterson, Calif.

USC, which is in the first year of scholarship limitations, was concentrating on signing offensive and defensive linemen.
