National signing day 2012: The fax machine is back in vogue

With smartphones, email, scanners and Facebook, fax machines have been disappearing as a communication device, similar to pay telephones.
But on national signing day 2012 for football, faxes are the most common way for athletes to send in their signed letters to colleges confirming they have accepted a scholarship offer.
Across the country on Wednesday, fax machines at college athletic departments will be busy, and athletes figure to be using their high schools’ fax machines to send their letters.
See, there is a need for a fax machine at least once a year.
