Bob Baffert has another Kentucky Derby hopeful in Fed Biz

Fed Biz scores victory Thursday at Santa Anita.

No one gets more excited about having a potential candidate for the Kentucky Derby than Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert, and he turned loose one of his most promising 3-year-olds on Thursday at Santa Anita.

Fed Biz, a son of Giant's Causeway, romped to a 5 3/4-length win in a mile allowance race in 1:34.74.

"This is my Derby horse buddy," jockey Rafael Bejarano said.

Fed Biz won his only other start at a mile.

"He's still a little green," Baffert said. "When he hit the top of the stretch, he had his ears up and he didn't switch leads until real late. I'm glad I got a race into him. That's part of the process. You know he has the pedigree, and he has a lot of just natural talent."

Fed Biz was a $950,000 yearling purchase.

Baffert has won nine Triple Crown races.
