UCLA's 6-foot-10 sophomore center Josh Smith did not start and will not play in Thursday's Pac-12 Conference matchup against Arizona.

Just before tipoff, a UCLA spokesman said Smith suffered a concussion late in practice Wednesday.

The Bruins are trying to avoid their first 0-3 start in conference play since the 1987-88 season.
