Steve Austin says Tim Tebow can have John 3:16 on one condition

Any pro wrestling fan will tell you that before Tebow 3:16 mania hit Monday (after Denver quarterback Tim Tebow passed for 316 yards and averaged 31.6 yards per completion in an upset win over Pittsburgh), there was Austin 3:16.

Austin 3:16 started at World Wrestling Entertainment’s 1996 King of the Ring pay-per-view event, when ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin defeated Jake ‘the Snake’ Roberts, who had spent the weeks leading up to the event talking about him seeing the light and giving up drinking for the Bible. After the match, Austin said ‘Jake, you talk about your John 3:16, well, Austin 3:16 says I just whooped your......’ The next week, WWE started selling Austin 3:16 shirts and it became the best-selling shirt in wrestling history.

So what does Austin think of the usurper of his mantle?

‘Austin 3:16 still rules,’ Austin told TMZ.com, ‘but if Tebow can throw for 316 yards again this weekend then hell, he can have the numbers and I’ll have no problem with it. A guy named John was using it before me ... so if Tebow can do it again, more power to him!’
