Oscar nominations 2012: Is ‘Moneyball’ the best sports movie ever?

Well, the 2012 Oscar nominations are out, and ‘Moneyball’, starring Brad Pitt, is one of nine nominees for best picture.

With that being the case, it is time for another Times Sports poll. This will be run similar to our greatest sports figures in L.A. history and out greatest sports moment in L.A. history polls.

Decide on your choice as the 10 best sports movies of all time. Rank them in order, from 1 to 10, and let us know. You can leave them in the comment section or email your choices to me at houston.mitchell@latimes.com.

Balloting will stay open until Monday. After that I will count the ballots, giving 12 points to the movie you put first on your list, 10 for second place, eight for third, seven for fourth, on down to one point for 10th place. Any movies that feature sports are eligible. If you need to refresh your memory, you can find a list of dramatic sports movies here, and comedy sports movies here.

On Monday, we will unveil the top 10, one a day. It’s just the thing to whet your appetite for the Oscars.
