UCLA football: LB Patrick Larimore out for bowl game
UCLA linebacker Patrick Larimore walked into practice Tuesday wearing a cast on his right hand and will not be able to play against Illinois in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl on Saturday.
Larimore, who leads the Bruins with 80 tackles, had surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right thumb two weeks ago. He was injured during practice in August.
Larimore had hoped to be cleared to play against Illinois but was told Friday he would risk reinjuring the thumb.
The loss of Larimore leaves the Bruins thin at middle linebacker. Jordan Zumwalt will start in Larimore’s place, but backup Isaiah Bowens is academically ineligible for the game.
