Power outage delays 49ers-Steelers game [Updated]
Whatever the reason, Monday night's game between the 49ers and Steelers has been delayed because of a power outage at Candlestick Park.
According to the San Francisco Chronicle, a transformer outside the stadium failed about 20 minutes before the scheduled kickoff at 5:40 PM PST.
[UPDATED, 6 p.m.: All the lights are back on and the game has started.]
[UPDATED, 6:46 p.m.: The power has gone out again after the game started 20 minutes late at 6 p.m. San Francisco is leading, 6-0, with 12:13 left in the second quarter.]
[UPDATED, 6:59 p.m.: The game has restarted following a roughly 15-minute delay.]
Stadium and city officials were scrambling to find an alternate power source.
Most of the lights came back on soon after the outage, but the game is on hold until they get all the lights back on.
We'll have more on the power failure and the 49ers-Steelers game (if they start playing) at latimes.com/sports.
