Chris Paul talks championship for the Clippers at news conference [video]

Chris Paul mentioned a word that has rarely been used with the Clippers -– championship.

Paul talked about such a thing happening during his introductory news conference Thursday to officially announce him as a Clipper following Wednesday’s blockbuster trade.

The Clippers acquired Paul from the New Orleans Hornets in exchange for Eric Gordon, Chris Kaman, Al-Farouq Aminu and the unprotected first-round draft pick they got from the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2005.

"I’m excited to bring a championship here to LA in a Clippers uniform," Paul said.

Paul, who will earn $16.3 million this season, said he will pick up the option on his 2012-13 contract for $17.7 million.

That means he’ll be here for at least two seasons playing with All-Star Blake Griffin.

"I want to win and I want to win now," Paul said. "So I’m excited about what the future holds."
