BCS bowl games: Chris Dufresne on what to watch [video]

December 30, 2011 |  3:02 pm

Bowl Championship Series bowl games finally arrive New Year's weekend, culminating Jan. 9 with the national title game between SEC rivals Louisiana State and Alabama at the Superdome in New Orleans. Chris Dufresne, The Times' national college football writer, discusses a number of topics with Cinesport's Noah Coslov.

Among Dufresne's observations in the video above:

  • Oklahoma State versus Stanford in the Fiesta Bowl on Monday could be the best game, feateuring prolific offenses and quarterbacks in the Cowboys' Brandon Weeden and the Cardinal's Andrew Luck.
  • The Rose Bowl on Monday has plenty of intrigue with two recent losers of the game -- Wisconsin last year and Oregon two years ago -- playing in a game of power versus speed.
  • Coaches Chip Kelly of Oregon and Mark Richt of Georgia, the SEC runner-up that plays in the Outback Bowl against Michigan State on Monday, are both on the hot seat.

Check out the video to get all of Dufresne's commentary.
